Real quick one here, because I just wanted to announce the rather BIG project I've been working on for the past few months, which I've just confirmed clearance to speak publicly about.

I've recently become the newest contributing writer for THE AVENGERS, CAPTAIN AMERICA, & THOR: THE OFFICIAL INDEX OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE.  My first issue of the book, #6, will be in stores the first week of October.

Essentially, the INDEX is an issue-by-issue reference guide to, you guessed it, AVENGERS, CAPTAIN AMERICA, and THOR, that gives you all the pertinent details on each, plus character chronologies that place each appearance in the overall tapestry of the Marvel Universe.

Yes, it's a lot of work, but I'm having a damn blast and the other INDEX writers have been loads of fun to work with.

So keep your eyes peeled for my first issue, and heck, find the preceding five too, plus the original Index that covered Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the X-Men!  If you're a Marvel fan, your collection's not complete without these!

Back on the art front, reposting this for those interested:

COMMISSION RATES:
Head shots in pencil: $20
Full-body shots in pencil: $30
Full-body shots with background in pencil: $40
Any of the above inked: +$10
Any of the above colored: +$20
Any of the above with more than one character: +$2 for each additional character after the first

Have a happy fall!

So, it's been nearly two years since I journal'd on this frakkin' thing, and a fair amount has happened in that time.  My wife Mariel and I were blessed with our rambunctious little bundle of giggles, one Nicholas D. McCarver (and no, Trigun played no part in the naming process)... HYPERSONIC #1 has been available for a good while now (#2 is on the way, no E.T.A. as of yet though)... and though I'm sad to report that Waffle Ink met an untimely demise, all of the previous members have been doing great post-mortem.

The inaugural issue of my new book, STOMPGIRL, which I am writing (FEAR!) and drawing, is ambling towards completion, set to debut at Project Comic Con in Maryland Heights, Mo., this September.  But even huger is the news that an opportunity I was offered a few months ago has been finalized, and this, well, is probably the biggest thing I'm ever accomplished in the comics medium.  What is this opportunity, you ask?

Not saying.  Yet.  But once documents are signed and all the dotting and crossing of I's and T's is complete, I'll spill the frijoles.

More art will be thrown up in short order, so hang in there.  One last bit...

COMMISSIONS!

Yes, I'm jumping back into mercenary-artist mode and offering my services as doodler-for-hire.  Here be the rates:

Head shots in pencil: $10
Full-body shots in pencil: $15
Full-body shots with background in pencil: $20
Any of the above inked: +$5
Any of the above colored: +$10
Any of the above with more than one character: +$1 for each additional character after the first

These will be drawn on 8.5 x 11 laser paper.  Please specify if you simply want a digital copy or the actual original art.  I plan to post any commission work on my DA gallery, so if you don't want it up here, please say so.

So. After having a DA account for what, a year and a half now? I'm actually making use of it and thus have thrown on a pile of my work.

For those unfamiliar with me or my work, my name's Chris McCarver, and I'm a 32-year-old freelance illustrator based out of Springfield, MO. I've worked in independent comics for a while now, most of my recent work coming from Ronin Studios.

I'm currently part of Waffle Ink Studios here in Springfield, and the artist and co-creator of HYPERSONIC, an indie superhero title written and co-created by Shannon Chenoweth, writer of the crime comic, THE LINE. Be advised that HYPERSONIC may be changing titles, as we've recently learned of a copyright issue with the name.

Thanks for checking out my stuff, and rest assured: there's more to come.
